Andrew (he/him) is the Executive Director of Black Box Acting. He is a proud graduate of the 2012-13 ACADEMY, and has been teaching at Black Box since the Spring of 2013. Before attending The ACADEMY, Andrew graduated from the University of Chicago, where he has subsequently been a Lecturer for the Committee on Theatre and Performance Studies. He has also been a guest artist at the Harry L. Davis Center for Leadership at the Chicago Booth School of Business, and works with corporate coaching clients, helping them apply Black Box's techniques to a range of professional scenarios. Andrew is a co-founder and the Artistic Producer of First Floor Theater in Chicago; in that role, he helped create FFT's productions of The Secretaries, Botticelli in the Fire, Hatefuck, Pro-Am, In His Hands, One Party Consent, and Evanston Salt Costs Climbing. He also helped create and currently produces the Blueprint Commission. As an actor, he worked on dozens of plays. Highlights include playing Steve in the Chicago premiere of Will Arbery's Plano (First Floor Theater at Steppenwolf 1700, directed by Audrey Francis), playing Fielder/Dionysus in Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm's Hooded; or Being Black for Dummies (First Floor Theater, directed by Mikael Burke), originating the role of Jake in Basil Kreimendahl's We're Gonna Be Okay (Actors Theatre of Louisville, Humana Festival of New American Plays, directed by Lisa Peterson), playing Adie in Zinnie Harris' Solstice (A Red Orchid Theatre, directed by Karen Kessler), and playing Andy/Tuzenbach in Beth Hyland's Red Bowl at the Jeffs (The Sound, directed by Rebecca Willingham).
